Continuity of GP care

Sir, – Dr Dáibhéad O’Doráin says that continuity of care from a general practitioner provides a good outcome with lower mortality rates and higher patient satisfaction (July 24th).

He may be right, but I attend the same practice all the time and I never see the same doctor twice. If it isn’t a new, younger partner or a trainee I’ve never met before, it’s a GP from a neighbouring practice doing cross-cover, or a foreign doctor flown in from Europe to cover the practice while the regular doctors are off duty. – Yours, etc,
