Sir, – I suppose eaten bread is soon forgotten (Una Mullally, "Fine Gael makes a clumsy grab for female voters", Opinion & Analysis, March 8th). Excellent campaigns for marriage equality and to repeal the Eight Amendment to the Constitution finally got a proper hearing in referendums in 2015 and 2018. Each happened when a Fine Gael government was in office. Most of the credit goes to the campaigns for highlighting the issues but government support helped.
Remember when Simon Harris was the hero of the campaign groups? –Yours, etc,
