Sir, – In September, the Government will spend €120 million on a water conservation grant to households who have registered with Irish Water in a blatant attempt to retain votes that might otherwise be lost. €120 million would buy between 500 and 600 houses. According to the most recent figures from the Department of the Environment, there are 565 homeless families living in emergency accommodation, in B&B or hotel bedrooms. – Yours, etc,
