Sir, – In "National Lottery 'disappointed' by Minister's comments on synthetic lottos" (News, March 21st), it is asserted that "it is estimated there are up to 15 such firms operating in the Irish market". There are currently only six jackpot-matching betting on lotteries operators (Lottoland, Lottogo.com, Multilotto, myLotto 24, Jackpot.com and Jinni Lotto). All are locally licensed and regulated by the Revenue Commissioners in Ireland. Furthermore, the National Lottery statement that "unlike the National Lottery, the offshore operators are not regulated. Their products require no approvals and they do not have the same strict responsible play and sales codes of practices that the National Lottery have" is incorrect. Our members present on the Irish market are locally licensed and subject to much stricter rules – including age restrictions – than the National Lottery.– Yours, etc,
