Madam, - The opinion polls for the approaching local elections reveal the real concerns of ordinary citizens in this city on what spoils their quality of life. Not surprisingly, the main problems are seen as the price of houses, health and the inefficient transport service.
I have concluded that these problems will never be solved until we reduce the salaries of elected representatives to the same level as those of the ordinary citizen.
Not until these problems begin to impinge on their quality of life will any real effort be made at their solution. - Yours, etc.,
SEÁN O'REILLY, St Columbas Rise, Swords, Co Dublin.
