Derry manager Brian McIver has announced one change to the team that narrowly defeated Down for Saturday’s Ulster semi-final against Donegal in Clones.
Cailean O’Boyle replaced Benny Heron for the final quarter against Down and that change is retained as Derry seek to build on a first championship success in four years by beating their neighbours for the first time since 2008.
Donegal’s preliminary-round victims Tyrone make two changes for the visit of Limerick. Tiernan McCann, who was a late withdrawal before throw-in in Ballybofey returns in place of Barry Tierney whereas the talented Omagh forward Ronan O’Neill is selected in place of under-21 All-Ireland winner Cathal McShane.
Team captain Seán Cavanagh will move within one of the record for championship appearances in the county. It will be his 74th match, overtaking former captain Brian Dooher and just trailing Conor Gormley by one.
Limerick manager John Brudair makes one change, bringing in Danny Neville in the forwards in place of John Riordan.
Lorcan Smyth replaces Ronan Foley in Westmeath's team to face Meath in Sunday's Leinster semi-final. Smyth came into the quarter-final win over Wexford in place of the same player and holds the spot in manager Tom Cribbin's selection.
Smyth is named to start at centre back with Kieran Martin, who scored the vital goal in the defeat of Wexford, switching to centre back, as Westmeath chase a first win over their opponents in championship history.
Starting today, the largest-ever Féile Peil na nÓg is expected to draw 50,000 visitors to the South East. Sponsored by Irish Pride, the under-14 competition is being hosted by 117 clubs across Carlow, Wicklow and Wexford. A total of 6,500 players on 235 teams play in 530 matches over the weekend.
l The death has taken place at the age of 93 of John Joe Nerney, a member of the Roscommon teams that won back-to-back All-Irelands in 1943 and '44. From the Boyle club, he was a replacement in the first final against Cavan but started the following year's victory over Kerry.
