Sir, – Of course Patricia Hanley (Letters, May 15th) is right. Of course the residents of Inchicore are right.
Equally, the residents of Knocklyon / Rathfarnham (and a much wider area) are right when they demand that the archaeological finds on the lands of the late, former taoiseach, Liam Cosgrave be preserved in situ.
The trees of Grattan Crescent, Inchicore, lift many a heart and ease many a breath.
The preservation of national heritage in situ, in the areas mentioned above, would enrich and deepen many a life and your letters page could not hold the list of benefits which would accrue if the human, reflective, principled decision to excavate, learn and preserve on site were made. – Yours, etc,
