Sir, – When I joined the Civil Service some 50 years ago, I received a circular explaining that one was entitled to a certain number of days of sick leave uncertified by a doctor. It stipulated that this was not to be regarded as a regular addition to annual leave, adding the observation that there seems to have been some misapprehension about this in the past. – Yours, etc,
CHARLES LYSAGHT,
Merrion,
DUBLIN 4 .
